Office of Academic Effectiveness Overview

 

Mission Statement

The Office of Academic Effectiveness (OAE) at Georgia Tech fosters a culture of improvement and sustained excellence across academic programs and support units. Through on-going engagement and assessment support services, the Office contributes to the Institute’s commitment to excellence in student learning and quality assurance.

 

Vision Statement

The Office of Academic Effectiveness at Georgia Tech will be a leader in shaping and influencing academic quality assurance across the post-secondary landscape.

 

Core Functions

Assessment

Provides leadership and supports continuous improvement in student learning and institutional effectiveness across degree programs, general education, and academic and student support services.   

Surveys

Provides leadership in the administration and analysis of Institute-level surveys, including the end-of-semester Course Instructor Opinion Survey (CIOS), Exit Surveys, Career and Salary Survey, as well as a range of national and University System of Georgia (USG) surveys.

Academic Program Review

Coordinates academic program review and planning.  The office also provides support for new degree program development and long-term planning.

Accreditation & Accountability

Provides leadership and support for institutional accreditation efforts and supports programmatic accreditation initiatives. The office provides guidance and resources to meet the accreditation-related needs of the Institute community. 

 

Goals

Goal 1 – Increase awareness of assessment best-practices across the Institute’s academic programs and academic support units.

Goal 2 – Increase stakeholder awareness of key data collected from student and other related surveys.

Goal 3 – Ensure evaluation of academic programs and academic support units are conducted through a self-study process, culminating in an external peer review.

Goal 4 – Compliance with accountability standards.
